Success for All logo for FastTrack Phonics

Overview

  • FastTrack Phonics builds students’ skills in phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence and word-level blending and segmenting.

  • The lessons are appropriate for varied age groups, and they are flexible enough to be customized to the needs of a particular student, class, or group (SFA, 2015).

Placement and Grouping

  • Using current and/or iReady Diagnostic data, students will be placed into skill groups depending on highest level of phonics need.

Materials and Instruction

  • FastTrack Teacher's Editions and materials will be provided to classroom teachers by ELA Coaches.

  • Daily lessons should take approximately 20 minutes. Within these lessons, children master the basics of reading with phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence, word-level blending and spelling practice.

  • The program integrates direct teaching, using puppets, video and colorful picture cards, with whole-class interaction and partner practice. (SuccessforAll.org, 2015)

How to share my analysis of student progress

  • Upload your Progress Monitoring Data into EdInsight after assessment. Be sure to include notes as to what benchmark or skill has been taught. How to Upload Data into EdInsight can be found here.

  • In uploading to EdInsight, you are sharing student progress; be prepared to discuss student data during MTSS meetings or parent conferences.
