Students who have previously been identified as Tier 2 will receive interventions.
A list of your tiered students is provided to you by Wicklow's MTSS Coordinator.
Your students' designated WIN groups will be provided to you by the ELA Coaches.
Walk -to-Intervention (WIN) has a designated 30 minute AM and PM Block embedded into the WKLE Master Schedule. It is during this time that both Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 interventions will occur.
Depending on current data, students will be grouped on need considering the following areas. Teachers will provide interventions for a specific group.
Phonemic Awareness
Phonics
Comprehension
Vocabulary
Writing/Grammar
Oral Reading Fluency
All students participate in WIN, even Tier 1 students who may receive on-level or advanced instruction.
Students whose Tier 1 progress you are concerned about can be recommended for Tier 2 instruction at a weekly MTSS meeting; the form for recommendation must be filled out prior and sent to MTSS coordinator.
Tier 2 or Tier 3 students who are proving successful after receiving 6-8 weeks of intervention can be recommended for a transition to the previous tier at a weekly MTSS meeting.
The resources shown in the buttons below are approved by SCPS for Tier 2 Intervention. Depending on the needs of your classroom, you and your ELA Coach will determine which resources will be most beneficial for your students.
Click on the buttons below for specific details pertaining to each curriculum.
Generally, interventions for Tier 2 should occur at a minimum of twice per week for at 20 minutes in a small group or approved digital setting (i.e. Wonders Assigned Lessons). Tier 3 Interventions should occur 3-4 times per week for 20-30 minutes in a face-to-face small group or one-on-one setting.
WIN Time allows for 4 days of intervention so Tier 2 and Tier 3 student's needs can be met in a structured manner.
Instruction should occur specifically as directed by the resource.
How do I monitor progress?
You will need to assess a skill or benchmark on a bi-weekly basis. The form(s) used to track proficiency can be found directly through the source and may differ depending on resource.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 proficiency data needs to be uploaded into EdInsight on a bi-weekly basis. How to Upload Data into EdInsight can be found here.
