Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a technique that utilizes thin, skinny needles that are inserted into specific areas of the skin. Endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkilling chemicals, may be released due to acupuncture -- which in turn, can help relieve pain. This treatment may also affect serotonin levels, which is a brain chemical linked to mood. Studies have shown that the needles may interrupt pain signals. This is thought to release chemicals that promote the body’s healing process into the muscles, spinal cord, and the brain.
