2023 Spring Meeting - Tacoma CC
Meeting Minutes - Editable for all - feel free to add to this document
Hi All,
I hope that everyone is doing well and having a good academic term.
I know that it’s still almost three months away, but I wanted to get you all to start thinking about the spring WCERTE meeting, which will be May 4th & 5th at Tacoma Community College (TCC), for we’re looking for agenda items. Remember that this is going to be our first in-person WCERTE meeting since fall 2019, so this is an exciting time and chance for you to share what’s going on at your campus.
The basic info is:
Thursday, May 4 - WCERTE Dinner - Boran Royal Thai Cuisine - Time - 6 pm - 9 pm - No host. The restaurant is directly across from the Silver Cloud Hotel. (Note: please bring cash or be ready to Venmo, since credit cards are limited to 3 per table.) We’ll be sending out requests for RSVPs when we get a little closer to the event.
A block of rooms have been reserved at the Silver Cloud Hotel at Point Ruston. (Note: There are two Tacoma Silver Clouds in the area, so be sure you are looking at Point Ruston.) Rates are $149 ($169.12 with tax/fees). Reserve your room using this link or call (253) 319-8300 Ext 1 and ask for the WCERTE group discount. This discounted rate is available through Tuesday, April 4, 2023. We have 10 rooms held at this rate, and can go up to 20 rooms, depending on availability. Please reserve your room as soon as possible. Hotel parking is $36, and can be claimed separately as part of your travel expenses. We encourage carpooling. If parking costs are prohibitive, please contact Rebecca Sliger (rsliger@tacomacc.edu) to brainstorm solutions.
Friday, May 5 - WCERTE meeting - $45 - Tacoma Community College - 8 am - Building 8, room 101/109. Registration link to follow. Parking passes will be provided after registration. Includes coffee/tea, light breakfast items and lunch. In addition, we will:
Start the formal part of the meeting with a welcome at 8:30 am,
Have campus reports either during or after lunch depending upon how full the agenda gets, and
Plan to end the meeting at 3 pm +/- 30 minutes depending upon how full the agenda gets.
There will also be an optional tour after the meeting for those who are interested.
So far I have one agenda item (and a really good one that you’re going to love hearing about!), and plenty of room for more.
Please send agenda items directly to me at newcomj@wwu.edu, and let me know how much time you would like to have reserved. We’re going to try to post a draft agenda by the end of the month to help with travel requests, so please send me items that you already have planned by M 2/27 if you can.
Special thanks to Rebecca Sliger and TCC for hosting!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks and stay well,
Jeff
