Virtual School Tour on Wednesday! No written work this week. Click:
What is ‘Art’? Art comes in a variety of forms and styles. It has changed so many times throughout history. When you pick up a pencil and start to draw there are no rules. You can allow your own creativity to decide what you want something to look like.
Different types of art can be classified as a certain style depending on what movement they came from or were inspired by.
This week we are going to look at the movement
‘Pop Art’
The Pop art movement emerged in the 1950s, composed of British and American artists who draw inspiration from ‘popular’ imagery and everyday products from popular and commercial culture (T.V adverts), instead ‘elitist’ fine art.
The most famous Pop Art artist is probably Andy Warhol. Below there is a short PowerPoint about him and his work.
There is a link below to a video about him also.
There is a PowerPoint containing lots of Pop Art artwork from various artists.
Watch the video below to learn more about Andy Warhol and other Pop Art artists.
There is lots of artwork to give you some ideas for this week's task.
Towards the end of the video there is a description of an art lesson for a classroom. Listen to this to get some tips. You will hear the teacher talk about contrasting colours and what materials best to use. Pastels or crayons are recommended because of the strong vibrant colour they produce but again you can use whatever you have at home
Remember to send any of your finished artwork to your teacher. We would love to see them.
