Art 11th - 15th May
Theme: City Skyline
This week’s Racing Ahead story was set in New York City. This week for art we will be learning how to draw a city skyline.
There is a video below by ‘Art For All’ below which is an YouTube art channel for kids. In this video you will be shown how to draw a skyline. Watch this video fully before you start your own piece. You can then use this video in a number of ways to help you to create your own skyline.
1) Watch and copy
You can watch the video fully and pause at the end on the finished piece. You can copy and draw from the paused piece.
2) Watch, pause and copy
You can recreate the same picture as the artist in the video by following along and pausing as you complete your piece.
3) Watch and create your own
Watch the video and study how the artist uses straight and angled lines to create 3D buildings. Using what you’ve learned create your own city skyline
Don't forget to email on your finished pieces to your teacher for the school website🎨
Artistic Techniques: From this video you will learn how the use of straight and angled lines creates perspective.
Perspective is the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other.
