Part 1 - October 9-11, 2024
CANCELED AS OF OCT. 1, 2024
Continuing education for the advancement of students.
The TXHSWS Welding Educators Series will be a multi-part professional development sequence aimed at providing relevant instruction that teachers can use and take back to their students. Content will dive into being able to better understand the provided WPS and Spec Sheets, general visual inspection and destructive testing practices, and certification tests offered to students through the Texas High School Welding Series.
Agenda
Wednesday-Thursday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Friday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
While a detailed agenda is still in the works, the following topics will be covered.
Kimberly Harris, Region 7 ESC CTE Specialist - How do the state requirements for IBCs impact me and my students?
Guest CWI - Understanding a WPS. What is the CWI perspective on your student's weld test? How can you better prepare yourself or your students for a weld test? Troubleshooting a weld. Basic equipment maintenance.
TXHSWS - What does a welding contest or certification event look like? How can I get my students involved? How can I host an event?
Hands-on welding - Each day after lunch, the shop will be open for you to weld and work on the skills you would like to improve on. Choose a WPS from the TXHSWS library and have a CWI certified weld to take back home to your students.
