Choose the left option to register, "Youth."
If your son was previously registered as a scout, you will need your son's membership id. Where it asks for the membership id, a circled "?" will take you to a "Recover Member ID" form. If you are still having issues, you can try calling the council at (801) 479-5460.
At the end of the application process, you will be asked for payment using a credit card.

Registering as an Explorer has a lower cost. Can we register as an Explorer? Why is it less?
Exploring Scout ages are 14-20. To register as an Explorer Scout, you have to register with an Explorer Unit, so it isn't possible with our troop. I called the council and spoke to quite a few people, but no one could give any explanation why it is less expensive. My theory is that it is because the focus of Exploring Scouts is different than Scouts and Venturing

In the past, Merit Badge counselors weren't tracked by the Great Salt Lake Council. Probably because the task would have been monumental. The list of merit badge counselors is now maintained in Scoutbook and is updated monthly.
To register as a Merit Badge Instructor:
Fill out the Adult Registration application (position 42) and Disclosure.
Fill out the Merit Badge Counselor Application (editable PDF)
Take Youth Protection Training and download the certificate. (See details above)
Turn in the application and certificate to counsel (or to the troop and we will get it to counsel).
