MIYOSHI SCREAMER IN 2-0 WIN

Bristol City 0-2 Birmingham City

After an iconic win against Leeds, Blues travelled to Ashton Gate for our third game of the 23/24 campaign.

We were up early for the long 3 hour drive down to Bristol, but was worth it as the team showed great attitude and determination all game. £15 for the parking however... that ain't it.

Before the game, I met Ben, from the Robins On Tour. With us both having similar starts to the season, he felt a 2-1 home win was foreseeable, and was looking forward to a good game and atmosphere. Mentioning us Blues fans always bring a great away following.

I also caught up with Jamie, from the podcast. Confident as always, predicting a 3-0 to Blues! Believing new boy, Koji Miyoshi, would grab his first goal and perhaps Juke and Hogan getting on the score sheet too.

We made our way in, found our seats, realised we didn't like them, and looked for some better ones! Made our way to the back, looked over the whole Blues end, much better!

From the very first whistle we looked alive and ready. It was clear we wanted it more. We were treated to more beautiful footwork from Siriki Dembele, whose dazzling feet befuddled the Bristol City backline, but after a few squandered opportunities, it felt our hard work wouldn't be rewarded.

Koji Miyoshi however had different ideas, opening the scoring just before the break with an absolute belter! Catching it on the volley beautifully, sending us 3,000 fans into ecstasy. It certainly caught us all by surprise. Typically it's us who are on the receiving end, particularly in these last few seasons. Marcelino Nunez, need I say anymore?

The half time whistle soon followed and Jack and I made our way down to the kiosks where the party was happening! Chants of Team of Tebily's and co ringing round, beer everywhere, and just general good vibes. The club is on a high at the moment, and it's great to see. The fans have harshly treated by the club's mismanagement for such a long time and to feel the care and belief from the new investors is so refreshing. Clear to see at each game too.

The second half got underway while we were still soaking up the atmosphere, and despite the set back in substitutions with Laird and Dembele having to make way, Blues stayed on top.

Aside from a few wasted chances, most noticeably Nakhi Wells' 3-yard sitter, Bristol City didn't offer much else. It was a frustrating afternoon of misplaced passes and worried defending for the home side, and their misery was capped off six minutes from time when Lukas Jutkiewicz bagged his second of the season.

As the stadium emptied, us Blues fans revelled in this rare form and stayed long after the final whistle to clap the players and staff off.

We were solid for the whole 90 and fully deserved that second goal. Ivan Sunjic, a potential man of the match, did all the dirty work, ushering players off so Bielik could get back to bossing the midfield. His career hasn't gone the way people thought it might and after his disastrous loan spell at Hertha Berlin, he perhaps has a point to prove. He looks a new man too. Long may it continue.

Bielik was usual classy self. Dembele and Laird were lively again, shame they made way so soon. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious.

Ruddy was ace, came and caught everything. Kevin Long has massively improved since he was last at Ashton Gate, he's even got his own chant going now too!

Hogan was a little ineffective again, in my opinion. Yes, striker's don't have to score in order to play well, but I still think his movement off the ball can be better and his pressing from the front was a few steps off. Still I think he'll hit the ground running soon, and if Juke stays in the form he's in, he can easily set him up chances, I'm sure of it.

Tactically, Eustace got it spot on today. It was exactly the attitude we needed going into the game, particularly for us fans who travelled far in our numbers. Reminds me how poorly were played against Watford away towards the end of last season. Night game, travelled miles, lost 3-0, barely had a shot on target. Not today though. We were fast, energetic, and ruthless, and you get out what you put in in football, and today was fully deserved.

Well done the lads, onto Plymouth on Saturday. Another win and we're reaching dizzy new heights.

Keep Right On
