FREAK OWN GOAL IN 2-1 LOSS

Preston North End 2-1 Birmingham City

This evening Blues travelled to Deepdale off the back off a gut wrenching late 2-0 loss to Watford. A game in which we were harshly done by the referee’s decisions.

Preston sat top of the table, undefeated, same as last season before we played them. Maxime Colin’s back post header was enough to clinch the points that day.

Blues found themselves in front just after halftime yet again through Jay Stansfield. His Blues career getting off to a flyer! His persistence to win the ball is clear for everyone to see, and he thoroughly deserved the goal for all his hard work!

However, Preston were suddenly level from a corner after Krystian Bielik got caught in two minds clearing it and agonisingly headed it into the back of his own net.

Preston capitalised on their chances and found the net again to put them ahead. Milutin Osmajic applying the finishing touches.

The game was the home side’s to lose then, but Blues looked tired and a bit leggy. Eustace perhaps made subs at the wrong time and Ollie Burke looked a bit lost on the right.

A disappointing night but not one to ashamed by. We played some good stuff throughout the night. To come away with a second defeat feels harsh. Should’ve been another draw, but that’s football.

All we can do is think about the next game. QPR under the lights at home!
