DREARY BOXING DAY DEFEAT

Birmingham City 1-3 Stoke City

Wayne Rooney suffers his 8th defeat as Blues boss in Steven Schumacher’s first win in charge of Stoke City.

3-1 victors this afternoon at St. Andrew’s.

A game in which we started fairly strong but after Jordan Thompson fired in the opener for the visitors after a goal line clearance, the game opened up for the Potters.

Lynden Gooch added a second roughly 20 minutes later.

Sliding the ball between Ruddy’s legs after Ryan Mmaee found him in behind.

Boos were heard at the half time whistle.

And the game was pretty much killed off Andre Vidigal, who calmly lifted the ball over the Blues keeper to wrap up the away win.

A consolation goal for Jay Stansfield, put together brilliantly by Romelle Donovan.

The young man impressed the deflated home crowd.

Displaying some neat footwork and had the bit between his teeth to make an impact when he was introduced in the 67th minute.

The fight back however died shortly after and Schumacher’s side safely saw out the remaining 20 minutes.

The three points puts them ahead of Blues on goal difference and face Watford next week who were on the end of a battering by Bristol City today.

Who are coincidentally Blues’ next game on Friday.

A flat and frustrating afternoon for the fans to endure.

Far from the idyllic boxing day afternoon we’d have hoped for.

Keep Right On...
