From September 23 to 26, 2024, the last of six mobilities of the "Think globally, act locally" project took place in Primary School Barilović. Together with friends from partner schools Skisport Mittelschule Murau from Austria and Akademicki Zespół Placówek Oświatowych Lubawa from Poland, we looked back at the activities carried out during the last two years, analyzed their impact on our students and teachers, their families and local communities and made plans for cooperation in the future.
The first day of the project's final mobility began with a short welcome programme prepared by the host school which included the presentation of the film made by the students and staff of Primary School Barilović to honour school's 120th birthday. Students from all partner schools presented favourite activities they had been doing during last two years and videos to reminisce memories they have from all the mobilities. While the coordinators and directors were planning the final report, the students were learning traditional and popular dances from partner countries and took a walk to the Korana River.
The second day activities took us to the city of Karlovac where we started with a guided tour through freshwater aquarium Aquatika. Then, we attended a lecture on the conservation of freshwater ecosystems which continued with a discussion on the subject. After that, we held a round table during which we presented our impressions about participating in the project and students made a video about the positive changes they implemented in their everyday life after project participation. After a short walk along the Korana River, we headed towards the Nikola Tesla Experience Center, where we learned interesting details about Nikola's life and education in Karlovac.
On Wednesday, we went on a day trip to Šibenik and Krka National Park. In the morning, we visited the sights of the old town. After lunch, we headed to Skradin, where we started our tour with a boat ride to the Skradinski buk waterfall, we got to know the flora and fauna that lives there, the crafts that people did using the energy produced by the water, and the changes that the park is facing due to global warming.
The final day of the sixth mobility of the "Think globally, act locally" project began with a special workshop on the European Day of Languages prepared by the employees of the Ivan Goran Kovačić City Library in Karlovac. After that, we shared our experiences and the results of our two years of work with a wider audience that gathered in the City Library . We finished the official part of our meeting with the ceremonial certificates handing out and a cake in honour of our project. In the evening, we said our final goodbyes to our friends after a joint dinner.
