Homo climaticum - 12/2022-1/2023)

As a part of "Think globally, act locally" project, the eighth graders of Primary school Barilović watched the documentary "Before the flood", in which actor and activist Leonardo Dicaprio tries to point out the devastating effects of climate change on our planet throughout the world. Students prepared a debate focusing on two questions that the documentary raises: how aware the society is of the seriousness of the situation and whether it has the will to act and change its behavior. The students concluded that education on the issue is the most necessary step towards action before it is too late. 💚🌍🌎🌏💙

Here in Germany, the students from year 8 also watched the film "Before the Flood". They wrote down their impressions, ideas and observations .

In addition, the students from grade 6 have dealt with the topic "save our planet". In relation to this, they have dealt with the various already existing organizations.

Sustainability is dealt with in our school across all grades and subjects. In the subject religion, the students look at our world from a different perspective.

The following is a presentation from the future workshop, which deals with the topic of "the quality of the soil".

One of the workshops of the Erasmus project "Think globally, act locally" in Croatia held by the teachers from Germany was a recycling workshop, during which students from all partnering schools made bird feeders out of used milk and juice cartons. The first sunny day was used for hanging them on the trees around school filled with small grains of wheat and barley so birds can more easily live through the harsh winter period.

In AZPO we watched with our students the film "The Age of Stupid" . After watching it we prepared a debate among high school students which we recorded and presented to other classes in our school. We finished the debate with a long discussion between the participants of the debate and the audience ( students from other classes).
