Three thousand years ago the tawny-haired, barbaric Hybori people began their rise to power, sweeping south across the lands. They encountered the Acheronian people, who promptly enslaved them.
For a thousand years the Hybori people were vassals of the Acheron empire, until purple-towered Acheron crumbled under a new wave of barbarians from the north.
Koth, Ophir and Corinthia gained their independance, and new kingdoms — Aquilonia, Nemedia, Brythunia, Argos, and others — arose from the ashes of the old.
