The Westermarck

Overview

The westmost province of Aquilonia, on the border of the Pictish Wilderness.

Consists of the land between the Black River and the Thunder River, as well as about half the territory between the Thunder River and the Shiriki River.

Contains four sub-provinces (from north to south): Oriskonie, Conawaga, Schohira, Thandara. 

There used to be a fifth province - Conajohara, to the west of Conawaga - but that was taken back by Zogar Sog’s forces a few years ago.

Oriskonie, Conawaga, and Schohira are ruled by a baron assigned by the crown.

Thandara has no assigned noble. Its people currently look to the baron of Schohira.

Politics

The provincial capital is Velitrium, a city just to the west of the Thunder River (though many maps incorrectly place it east of the river).

The provincial governor is Count Haldemarus, a man generally agreed to be innefectual. He didn't take any sides in the civil war two years ago, because he never takes sides in anything.

The day-to-day running of his province is done by local Barons, such as Baron Trebelius, who rules Conawaga from his manor in Velitrium.
