Know, o prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars.
Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that boarded on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.
Hither came a pack of men and women, full of the arrogance of youth, eager to tread the sands of the world, to drink its pleasures and to plunder its valuables.
I am Erathius the scribe. It is my priviledge and my duty to chronicle their story.
It is a golden age.
The Hybori people are on the rise and the ruins of the previous civilisations (both human and other) lie ripe for pillaging. A strong sword arm or a sharp wit can gain a kingdom.
In this world of swords and sorcery, a group of youths travel together in search of gold, glory, girls, and other symbols of success.
The group will have many short adventures. Between adventures are periods of downtime where they spend all the gold they obtained, leaving them broke and ready for the next adventure.
Along the way they may learn that their meeting was not an accident of fate, but something ordained by a mysterious figure.

You were on a boat, a small coastal trader heading to the Zingaran city of Toragis.
But that was this morning. Right now you are standing on a cold and windy beach, soaked to the core, surrounded by sailors, boxes, barrels, and even some livestock. The ship is gone, you can still see some of its timbers above the water a distance offshore. Thank Mitra none of the crew and pasengers were lost and most of your possessions were saved.
Standing with you are your companions. Some of them you knew beforehand, some of them you met for the first time when you set foot upon the deck. You might not be friends with them now (or ever) but you feel in your heart that they are worthy battle brothers and sisters.
As the crew lights fires to warm and dry themselves and their gear, you spy something strange at the far end of the beach.
