What is a Prophet in Islam?
A prophet that has been chosen by Allah. Their job was to guide people to the right path and spread the message of Allah to over people around the country or around the world. There are also 25 prophets in Islam. E.g. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
What is a messenger in Islam?
A messenger that has been chosen by Allah to guide the people often reminding them of existing teachings to them and remind people of the bad consquences that will happen. E.g. Harun (brother of Musa simply known as Moses).
The 25 prophets in order:
Adam (Adam), Idris (Enoch), Nuh (Noah), Hud (Heber), Salih (Methusaleh), Ibrahim (Abraham), Lut (Lot), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Yaqub (Jacob), Yusuf (Joseph), Shu’ayb (Jethro), Ayyub (Job), Dhul-Kifl (Ezekiel), Musa (Moses), Harun (Aaron), Dawud (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ilyas (Elias), Alyasa (Elisha), Yunus (Jonah), Zakariya (Zechariah), Yahya (John the Baptist), Isa (Jesus), and Muhammad (peace be upon him)
The the that are in bold are the actual names of the prophets in Islam
Facts about the prophets:
Adam was the first human and Prophet.
Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final Prophet.
These Prophets were sent to different nations and times and some with scriptures.
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ كُلًّا هَدَيْنَا ۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَيْنَا مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٨٤
And We blessed him with Isaac and Jacob. We guided them all as We previously guided Noah and those among his descendants: David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. This is how We reward the good-doers. Holy Quran 6:84
Does it talk about the prophet's story in the Quran?
It acctually does in the Quran. It does also talk about their life and what they did as a prophet. Like in the Quran it told us that Prophet Adam( the first prophet ever existed) is considered the first human and Prophet. Allah created him and his wife, Hawwa (Eve), and placed them in Paradise. They were later sent to earth after Iblis (Satan) deceived them into eating from the forbidden tree.
