In the Quran, the translation might be different if you were trying to find out what it means. Well actually if you tied google translate it would probably say something random and it would probably not be linked to god or the religion. If the translation is weird the one that you are using it Modern Arabic. People in Saudi Arabia still uses it today but not the Classical Arabic since nowdays people normaly speak in Modern Arabic. Some words might be the same meaning but some doesn't unfortunetly.
What is Modern Arabic?
Modern Arabic is the type of Arabic used in books, newspapers, TV, and schools today. It comes from old Arabic (Classical Arabic) but has simpler grammar and new words for modern things like phones, TV, and the internet. People don’t usually speak it in daily life because they use their own dialects, but it helps Arabic speakers from different countries understand each other. Modern Arabic is mostly used in writing and formal situations, while Classical Arabic is still important for reading the Quran and older texts.
What is Classical Arabic?
Classical Arabic is the old form of Arabic used in ancient books, poetry, and the Quran. It has more complex grammar and words that are not always used today. People don’t speak it in daily life, but it is still studied for religious and historical reasons. Classical Arabic is more poetic and rich in meaning, making it different from Modern Arabic, which is simpler and used in newspapers, schools, and TV.
Why do people use Modern Arabic?
People use Modern Arabic because it is easier to understand than Old Arabic (Classical Arabic). Old Arabic has difficult words and rules that people don’t use every day. Modern Arabic has simpler words and also new words for things like phones, cars, and the internet. It is used in schools, books, news, and TV so people from different countries can understand each other.
The differences between them:
They have different meanings
Modern Arabic is easier to understand
Classical Arabic has difficult meanings but still is used for the Quran when reading or reciting
Classical Arabic is still used in Islam for Muslims to read
Does this mean that the text of it will be different?
Yes it will be different because the meanings are different. But if you are not familiar with the Modern Arabic that is still ok since as a Muslim you just need to know how to read it and how to recite the words in the Classical Arabic version.
Surah Al - Fatihah (Classical Arabic)
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٢
All praise is for Allah Lord of all worlds Holy Quran 1:2
Surah Al - Fatihah (Modern Arabic)
الحمد لله، هو ربُّ العالمين
All praise is for Allah Lord of all worlds Holy Quran 1:2
In this case, the verse itself doesn’t change much in Modern Arabic, because this verse is quite straightforward and many phrases in the Quran are still used in daily life. However, the grammar may be a little more flexible in casual Modern Arabic, but the meaning remains the same.
