The AEAs have staff who are meeting LEAs at their point of entry along a continuum as they work to transform to learner-centered practices. From blended learning to customized playlists to technology integration to competency-based experiences to student leadership groups to community-embedded partnerships, the AEAs offer a wide range of services and learning opportunities for Iowa's LEAs.

We are a coalition of educators from the IA ASCD, AEAs, SAI, LEAs, and higher education with a Leadership Council that supports local implementation of learner-centered, personalized, and competency-based practices. Members create tools/processes and offer free resources on the website to help make the shifts easier and more sustainable by using current research and innovative designs that model UDL/SDI and current practices in the field of personalized learning. Use the table on the left to get connected with a Leadership Council member in your AEA today!
The Iowa Department of Education supports educators in our efforts to implement the Iowa Academic Standards, which include the 21st century skills and Universal Constructs. Additionally, they lead the Future Ready Iowa Clearinghouse for Work-based Learning in partnership with AEA Learning Online, and are working collaboratively with The Center and Iowa's AEAs to reach the Iowa Board of Education's goal that every learner will experience personalized, learner-centered education.
The Center is proud to sit on CCSSO's Student-centered Learning Collaborative with the IDoE and to be partners in building equitable access to deeper learning for all students.
