Work-based learning is one way learners can gain career-readiness and earn core and/or elective credit for learning that occurs beyond school walls.

The Iowa Department of Education has a page dedicated to work-based learning, including:

Scaffolded Career Pathways

AEA Learning Online has a Student Personalized Learning (SPL) system that all districts in Iowa can access. The SPL system includes:

    • Content Modules

    • Career Modules, Trainings, & Certificates

Click on the video to the left to see an explanation of these opportunities as our students transition from their PK-12 experience to higher education and the world of work.

Future Ready Iowa: Explore Careers

Adults and students can access Future Ready Iowa's website to EXPLORE CAREERS. The website challenges employees to "Be bold and explore the many different career paths available to you. There are lots of different routes you can take from pursuing an apprenticeship to attending college. These tools will help you learn about the number of job openings, how much money you can make and the education needed."
