Tears of Tyar

Tyar (D-yar) is the dragon the story takes place on.

Seasons change as Tyar orbits the sun much like any planet so a solar calendar is still useful. Some years are shorter than others on the solar calendar. The shorter years are warmer, and the longer years are colder, but each still has a warm and cool period. Therefore if we want an accurate measure of how old something is we need to either use a lunar calendar, or count days rather than years. A solar calendar is still extremely useful for tracking seasons and weather.
