Tempest, Trickery - Chaotic Neutral
By far the youngest of The Ten, Celume (KEL-oo-may) ascended from a position as a lesser, rarely heard of goddess of rivers and lakes to one of The Ten when Lekamith abandoned his place in the pantheon seven hundred years ago after proving herself the strongest of his children. Little is known about this particular goddess, as there are only a small handful of stories about her told outside of aquatic elf societies, but a few things are known.
Wood Elves tell a story of lesser goddess turning the tides on Nylva in a battle during her attempt to take the heavens. It was a brief, fleeting victory, but one that helped to stem the tide of battle long enough for Haelmir to meet Nylva on a more equal footing. It is said that Celume, then just a water spirit and considered a guide and guardian to fishermen, cast a thin layer of ice over the top of a river, just thick enough to hold Nylva and her army of cultists and abominations for a few minutes. When the army began to cross, the ice’s strength gave way and huge numbers of her army fell in to a roiling current that swept them away from the battle.
This enraged Nylva, but failed to do her significant personal harm, and she reached in to the current and plucked Celume from its depths. Her followers bound the young goddess and held her while Nylva whipped her for her insolence. She did not, however, kill her because despite her wrath, she was able to respect that the young spirit outwitted her. Before Haelmir or any of The Ten were able to save her from it, Nylva turned her blood magics on Celume and opened one of the thin cuts on her face in to a wide, bleeding gash.
The high elves give respect to Celume before traveling by water, and the dark elves begrudgingly admit that she’s not the worst of The Ten. Those Aquatic elves who see Lekamith as a traitor and coward have turned their worship largely to Celume in his place.
Celume is always portrayed as a spritely young elven maiden with a large scar running along the right side of her face, crossing from hair line down to chin, short hair and a mischievous smile on her lips. She rarely wears anything that allows her skin from her neck to her ankles and wrists to be seen.
