The objective of this project was to create an item out of cardboard that was at least 10 inches tall and could hold a predetermined container. In our case the contain was the container used to hold the discarded sharp items in the class. The project also needed to have a creative element that set it apart from the other groups creation.
As the first step of creating our design, we created a more chart with many different designs that we could have used. In the end we ended up mixing and matching different deigns to create our final project.
While deciding what to create for our cardboard design, we created a variety of sketches. These sketches were taken from the morph chart previously created. There was a total of 5 different sketches that were all very different in design and functionality. We ended up going with the rounded-out design rather than on of the more symmetrical designs. Our final design was created with a simpler base but a more artistic overall design with scored flower petals that were painted to give it a look that was appealing to the eye. Each sketch was labeled with different reasons for the ideas and the different parts that made up the structures.
Our final design took the circular structure of the fifth brainstorm attempt and added a more artistic aspect to it. In this case that aspect was a flower with curling petals. In order to curl the petals for our design we would score the cardboard to create a rolling effect. Then we would add a few leaves and butterflies to the design to give a little more to the visual effect.
