It’s been years since King Terofin tragically died. Despite his short tenure, his impact has been great across the majority of the kingdoms. Normalcy, albeit new, has returned to the Roam. In the west, the Covenant of Stellarvania has proven to bring a renewed hope to the kingdom, resurgence of studies and remain the epicenter of Essence. This is also due to King Earl Waddam’s leadership of The Gauntlet and the return of Lord Barthleh’s sword. While its citizens miss Lady Alanis’s “warmth”, Earl Waddams adventuring and combat expertise has bolstered defenses against any type of threats to the far west. Word has spread about Imperator Tu-Ton’s success of being the stop-gap to the rampart murders across the Roam. Krogoths, no matter where, heed to his guidance and are prouder than ever. The Triumvirate of Kontra had made the decision to accept Machineheads seeking refuge from all parts of the Superunknown following the events of both the Omega Conflict and the Siege of Castle Shimmer. Unrest in Kontra was great initially. However the Triumvirate were able to lead by example and discourse settled. After Lady Alanis arrived at Cypress Hill to become its new leader, increased trade and good relations helped both Cypress Hill and Kontra. This in turn not only helped the Machineheads be accepted in Kontra, but advance their independence and species as a whole.
Paradise, Last Hope, and Arlandria remain under Trent Razor’s steady control, despite many schisms this has caused amongst the people. Some view him as ambitious like Aldren Stockton, poised to gain more control to inevitably spiral the Superunknown into another large-scale conflict. Others believe Trent is all that stands between them and the kingdoms of the west taking control over what’s left of the “free east”. Propaganda of all types are spreading like wildfire as well. Terofin single handedly saved the Superunknown; Eonlypse was murdered and King Oma now controls a weapon that could destroy all in his way; brain-eating Metamorphs disguised themselves as all the kingdom leaders and are poised to “farm” the rest of civilization. The list goes on and on. What does remain a fact is that since right before King Terofin’s death, there has been a change with Metamorphs in general. There hasn’t been necessarily more or less, but they have evolved. Now they are emerging with even more “sapient” like features, and less resembling their natural form. Also the parts that haven’t changed appearance wise have grown stronger. While the appearance shift has helped socially, people remain extra weary due to their “power creep”.
Before the Omega Conflict, Trent Razor approached both King Nothing of The Unforgiven and Lady Lawless of Wasting Light to broker an alliance. This alliance would help combat Aldren Stockton’s attempted takeover of the Superunknown. The reward for both kingdom’s would be the spoils from Aldren’s cities. While both got what was promised, Trent Razor quickly scooped up a bigger prize; control. After gaining control of Paradise he was able to swing control of a very weakened Last Hope. With the “convenient” death of Bray Godsil in Arlandria, he was able to wield his influence to take control there.
While King Nothing is focused on another task, Lady Lawless feels shortchanged in her deal with Trent Razor. She has decided to take it upon herself to “disrupt” Trent Razor’s agenda as much as possible. This gang (the players) is “hired” by Lady Lawless to do just that. The Downward Spiral is home to all outcasts and criminals, so any opportunity to make some IBU’s and possibly some freedom in the Roam is always a lucrative deal. The job is simple; cause as much chaos to any of Trent Razor’s operations and get paid. The gang will get dropped into the heart of the east; Arlandria. Even though this is Trent’s “newest” acquisition, it’s viewed as the highest prize and mostly likely to be his heaviest investment. While causing chaos can be easy, not getting caught or killed will be difficult. Trent Razor is aware of Lady Lawless’s feelings and with the gang’s shady pasts, there will surely be individuals and groups seeking them out. Will the gang be able to accomplish the task set by Lady Lawless? Will they flip the script and try to work for Trent, bolstering his stronghold? Will they be able to stay alive…. In the Superunknown?
