Character Bio Guide

Who are you? This is a very good question given that the world of the Superunknown is well…. Unknown. Hopefully this guide will assist in helping you choose who you are past your species and class.

Since this world is a blend of fantasy and sci-fi, the opportunities are endless of who you are and where you come. That means if you don’t see a suggestion here, you can certainly still incorporate an idea you have personally into your story.

You’re a fighter.

Everyone in Superunknown is pretty tired of fighting. Between two wars, the loss of land and resources, and straight up death, people aren’t looking to start anything. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t armies standing by just in case. Most of the kingdoms outfit some type of military in case someone decides to push the big red button. None big enough on their own to wage war, but when teamed up with a bunch of other armies they could squash any single kingdom’s army easily.

Mercenaries are very common and take up all kinds of jobs from patrols, bodyguards, bounty hunters or even monster hunters. Monster hunters are people specifically employed to rid the lands of the very troublesome Metamorphs that aren’t very sociable. Think of the Witcher and that’s pretty much it.

Service with a smile.

Perhaps you provide some kind of service. Scouts and guides are very common since some of the lands are very dangerous in both terrain and wildlife. The same goes for any of the seas; while most of the Superuknown is a giant continent, sea travel is still commonly used as a shortcut and means of transporting large amounts of goods and people.

Tech is very much on the rise, so whether you’re a miner for Sevendust, a builder, maintainer, or a seller, these are all very much active and needed spots.

You could also be a traveling or local healer; perhaps someone that provides advice and history to locals or the higher up royalty of a kingdom. Could be even as random as using Essence to provide some kind of service (if you can only generate enough fire to light up a room, maybe you’re a Lantern for Hire!).

The Ambitious

Your ambition is skyhigh. You’re a powerful Prodigy who thinks they can do the unthinkable and conquer that which everyone has failed to do. Maybe you’re a treasure hunter, seeking legendary artifacts that almost everyone thinks are just tall tales. Maybe you want to overthrow a kingdom simply climbing that chaotic ladder. These types of goals are definitely the most difficult but often the most rewarding.

Good, Bad…. or Neutral

All of the suggested backgrounds carry some morality to them so don’t forget to include it! Could be something as simple as you hate Metamorphs cause one murdered your family and that’s why you hunt them, regardless of social standing. You want to gain and control as much Sevendust as possible because of the power it’ll bring you. Or heal others with your Essence because you feel that using that power for good will heal the Vortexergy’s that came to be.

Location, location, location!

Since I haven’t had a chance to pump out three books yet detailing all the history and lands, this part I advise you to reach out to me directly to get the appropriate info. Looking to be a criminal escaping their past? I’ll probably point you towards The Downward Spiral and give you some back history there as to why. Want to be a mysterious Krogoth guide with mystical powers, a big axe, and speaks so little? You might dare to call the Bath of Fire your birthplace and I’ll tell you why. Or maybe you’re just a homicidal Machinehead; you were probably programmed on purpose up in Kontra. These bits of history, lore, and hints to what you guys will encounter in the RPG can be available to you with the low low price of asking!

Yes, I spelled warp instead of wrap. Get it? Hopefully the suggestions above help speed up and engage your backstory for the type of character you want to play. It should be as simple as “hey I want to play a Machinehead/Surehot who’s a bounty hunter that’s actually pretty good/moral, what do you got for me?” and I’ll send you different possibilities of where you came from and why, who you’d run into, types of jobs you did/do, etc.
