Save the Children Centenary Concert by the Rock Choir

90 members of the combined Rock Choirs of Worcester, Malvern, Droitwich and Tewksbury gathered at St Stephen’s Church, Barbourne on Saturday 8th June to perform to mark the Centenary of Save the Children and to raise funds for Save the Children Malvern Branch.

The Choir containing members of all ages entertained an enraptured audience with a varied programme with classics such as Uptown Girl, Africa, Beyond the Sea and Don’t Stop Me Now and solos by Nikki Thompson, John Bennett, Clive Milward and Anna Taylor.

Andrea Bright, Chair of Save the Children Malvern Branch said, “ The concert was a huge success raising almost £2,000

“Whether you are a parent, grandparent, godparent, step parent, aunt or uncle you can all relate to children and understand their need for care and protection.Save the Children have aided and helped children for the last 100 years all over the world.

"The Malvern Branch want to thank you all for supporting Save the Children by attending the concert this evening and enabling us to assist more children and would like to thank Helen Jones and all her 90 strong Rock Choir singers, who have given their time tonight and for entertaining us with such an uplifting concert.”

John Bennett from the Rock Choir said, ‘That was such a great evening; the audience got really involved. There are over 400 people involved in the 4 local Rock Choirs. Helen Jones is such a great teacher. I would encourage anyone with an interest in singing to come along and join us.”
