Save the Children Centenary Celebrations Garden Party

There was a large gathering of supporters, including Cllr Neil Morton, Mayor of Malvern Town Council and Cllr Dean Clarke, the Chairman the Malvern Hills District Council for the Garden Party to celebrate 100 years of Save the Children held by STC Malvern Branch. The garden at the Bright’s house in Alfrick was at its glorious best, the weather stayed fine and was definitely hot for the long periods the sun was out. The guests enjoyed the strawberries (locally picked this morning) and cream washed down with prosecco and followed by the best of best cakes made by the STC ladies and tea.

Formalities were kept to a minimum and people enjoyed simply sitting chatting to old friends or strolling round the gardens with the chickens.

Mandy Nichols, Community Fund Raising Manager for STC said, “While it is well catalogued that Eglantyne Jebb founded STC 100 years ago, the founding of the Malvern Branch is more difficult to be precise about, but it was at least 66 years ago. Currently the branch is going from strength to strength and this year alone has raised over £10,000 in the first 6 months”

Andrea Bright, the Chair of the Malvern Branch said, “We could not be so successful without the support of everyone locally. The Garden Party is simply to thank everyone for their tremendous support over the years… but it wouldn’t be STC without a raffle and a plant stall would it?”
