The series follows the story of Josiah Trenchard, one of the roughest, toughest troopers in the United Worlds Space Navy. He's a man of distinct morals with a renowned lack of tact.
Trenchard is a no-nonsense, foul mouthed, alcohol-fuelled action hero. He’s a lovable rogue who's been fighting hard in the bloody war that's been raging between the United Worlds and the "Rubente Dextera" insurgents, ever since the Belatu-Cadros uprising on Mars, four years ago.

The insurgents wage a guerrilla war of I.E.D.s, assassination and terror attacks. The navy live, fight and die by their motto:

The Wolverine class, hunter-killer vessel U.W.S.S. "Might of Fortitude" orbits a dwarf planetoid in the Kuiper Belt.
The Wolverine class vessel, the "Might of Fortitude", has been designed to be the deadliest hunter-killer star-ship in the fleet. The cramped, submarine-like spacecraft is about to be launched on her maiden voyage.
Her mission is to hunt down bloodthirsty pirates who have unleashed a reign of terror throughout the asteroid belt.

As Trenchard struggles to cope with a woefully inexperienced crew of misfits and reprobates, bad turns to worse when the hunter becomes the hunted and Trenchard must put his life on the line to save his ship, his crew and the honour of the Space Navy.

His adventures continue as he is pitted against a military-grade cyborg, code-named "Morgenstern", a berserker trooper with an experimental chip implanted into his brain, and then hordes of snarling, indestructible "Onamuji" zombies.

A dark conspiracy begins to unfold as Trenchard hunts down the elusive assassin who scarred him on Mars and he begins to uncover the hidden motives of the sinister Papaver Corporation. Just who are the elusive "Society"? What are their plans and how far does their power reach?
