It's a subject where there has been a lot of discussion and a lot of beliefs : What troop ratio should be used? The game automatically offers a 33%,33%,33% ratio for Infantry, Cavalry and Hunters, but is this the best configuration?
To try to answer these questions, I carried out a series of combat against a level 13 infectee with T4 troops by varying the three ratios from 0 to 100%.
A first series of tests in which the battles are all losese with a maximum of 1699 killed out of the 2457 infected.
A second series of tests close to victory to get the "cutoff" value
You will see in the analysis that this is certainly one of the most important factors of the game 💪
Remarks :
These tests were done august 2020 with 1.8.70 version
The table shows only two dimensions: infantry and cavalry, but the sum is always 3000 (or 3300) to give you the number of hunters.
These tests have been carried out against infected people, but, according to our analysis, who behave like humans, it is highly probable that there is only one combat engine in both cases.
I turned off as many stats as I could and didn't use heroes so as not to skew the results.
Your statistics (research, talents, gear, ...) obviously will change the results
This work has required no less than 800 fights 😱
Here are the results of the two tests :
Fight : 3000 T8 against 8654 Infected level 18 / Infected side damage (august 2020)
We can immediately notice that for the same number of soldiers (3000), depending on the ratio, the damage ranges from 173 for 100% hunters to 911 for 60% infantry, 17% cavalry and 23% hunters. Huge difference😱
The 33%,33%,33% ratio only results in 679 dead, so it is not at all the optimal solution here.
The curve is relatively linear up to yellow and then the number of deaths accelerates rapidly.
If you look at the extremes fidhts with just one unit type :
100% infantry: 100 killed
100% cavalry: 88 killed
100% hunter : 71 killed
If you look at fighting with two types of units:
The best is infantry / fighter
The least good is cavalry / hunter
Figth : 3300 T4 against 2457 Infected level 13 / Infected Side Damage
Fight of 3300 T4s against 2457 infected level 13 / number of surviving T4s in case of victory
We find the same thing as in test 1.
The best ratio here is 50%, 25%, 25%...
The ratio is definitely an important factor that can decide your victory or defeat!
We notice that the game does not use random numbers, the numbers are consistent and doing the same battle twice will give twice the same result.
Based on these resulsts, the recommendation is as follows:
If you have a chance to lose, prefer a lot of infantry: 60%, 20%, 20%.
If the fight is close to victory use 50%,25%,25%.
Even if the fight does not show it here, if you are certain of victory and you want to do maximum damage use a 33%,33%,33% or even 20% less infantry.
So you need a good ratio of the three units to be the most efficient!
