Auditor
We are delighted that Roger Halson has agreed to be our auditor. Roger Halson will form the “committee” along with Alan James and Geoff Dunn.
Bank Account
This will be with Santander and account and sort code will be issued shortly. All monies for the society should be paid by bank transfer. The only time cash should be used is at each of our club events (see below).

Royal Liverpool Event £2,000 Estimate (more info on this later as
unsure what it is - Kingsmen had this so
I've budgeted for it)
Total £43,750
* The payments for attendance at the tour events will cover your costs of breakfast (if having it), dinner (if having it) plus a modest allowance for a drink or two at the event (most will be driving in any case). We politely request that Captains respect this and do not purchase drinks to excess as this will just mean others are subsidising. If you want a more drinks, please meet any extras from your own pocket on the day.
Some of the figures in the table above are deliberately estimated high and are based on most Lions attending most events. Therefore, this should be “worst case” spend.
The budget produces an overall predicted spend of £43,750, a spend per Lion of approximately £1,600 but I would hope this is less in the final reckoning.
In addition, there will be some extra spends including:
Lions Tour - each Lion to bring £15 cash to each event (I will collect this on the day)
£5 for prizes
£5 for staff tip
£5 for hosting Captain’s charity (benefits all charities as we work through)
Lions Tour – it is a tradition for each hosting Captain to provide a small gift for attendees. This should cost no more than £10 per head – please do not exceed this so that there is consistency across all tour events.
Member Payments
Once our bank account is up and running, I will ask you for an initial deposit of £250 per person. I will then request further deposits as we run through the year. These latter deposits may be tailored to your own account depending on spend. I will endeavour not to ask for more than £250 in any given month.
The aim will be for all Lions to end the financial year (this runs 1st April to 31st March) with £250 credit ready for the following year.
At any time, you can ask me for a statement of your account, which from my spreadsheets, I will be able to return very quickly (unless I’m away on holiday).
Reporting
From time to time, I will issue a “state of play” report and at year end, everyone will receive a copy of the accounts and a final report form me. I expect we will old an AGM each year to elect officers and receive any reports.
Website
This is now available to all - search on lionsslgc24.co.uk
On the “Meet the Lions” page, we would intend to have everyone in red jacket photos as and when all Captains have these
The content will grow fast as we agree dates and enjoy our events.
At events, please take lots of photographs which I will upload to the website. I will also ask hosting Captains to write a short blog for their event (as Wallasey is first venue on our tour, I’ll be first to have a go at this!).
It’s our intention that the website is the “king” for all registrations at Lions organised events (you will of course have many other events which are not Lions organised, and you will need to follow the individual guidance for those).
If you have registered for an event and then later need a change, please contact Alan or myself.
Tour Events
Please agree the date for your event with Alan. Alan will then work with me to get your event on the website with an appropriate form – you will see the information needed by looking at one of the events currently on the website.
As per the financial guidance above, you will need to take £15 in cash to each event to be collected by Geoff.
The hosting Captain will (as tradition demands):
Provide a small gift (no more than £10 per person as per the financial guidance above) for attendees
Welcome the Captains and organise the competition and groupings
Provide prizes (1st, 2nd and 3rd places) up to the value of £5 x the number of those attending (so if you get 20 attending you will have a budget of £100). We suggest you either split this into cash for each place (easy option!) or buy something useful e.g. golf balls or maybe vouchers e.g. Amazon. However, it’s up to you but again, to be fair to all, please do not exceed budget.
Present the prizes after dinner.
Geoff will pass the collected tip money/charity money to the hosting Captain for the staff at his club and to go into his chosen charity. This arrangement will benefit all across the year and provide consistency.
