A beautifully warm sunny day welcomed 22 Captains to Ormskirk Golf Club, a great turn out. Plenty of dodgy knees were on display as shorts were the preferred dress code.
Great to see our Captain of Captains Mike Johnson in attendance.
Peter Hurst (Widnes) triumphed with some sparkling golf pipping Phil Unsworth (Hillside) who was second and Chris Farley (Lee Park) in 3rd. Apparently Chris never plays good golf or wins anything. Hmmm!!! The one thing you can guarantee though is a smile on his face, indeed on such a glorious day there were smiles on all faces.
A slight disappointment for the host as Tim Taylor (Bidston) decided to put his tee shot on the beautiful 14th hole inside him and pip him to the prize. Well done Tim! (said through gritted teeth!)
The meal afterwards was enjoyed by all but wasn’t without some controversy as the Alan’s specially prepared chicken meal was snaffled and enjoyed by a sheepish looking Brian. Not sure Alan will ever forgive, although he did get an apology for the mix up.
Great to welcome the 2024 Captains, The Lions, to Ormskirk celebrating our 125th year anniversary.
