The Medical Department is a department based around the health and welfare of their fellow personnel within their designated Area, and across the Installation. Currently, the Medical Department is largely staffed by professional physicians, doctors, nurses, psychologists and even chemists.

The structure and function of the Medical Department are important for several reasons; Medical Department members practice caring for a patient and managing the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of their injury or disease. Medicine encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.
