The unit introduces you to the medical and cultural meaning of D/deaf and hard of hearing. Various means of becoming deaf will be explored in the unit. Moreover, the correct terminology for people who have loss their hearing will be discussed.
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

Differentiate between deafness as a medical condition and as a cultural issue
List and explain some labels used for people who have lost their hearing.
