For today's lesson we will be focusing on the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, meaning that they were added to the Constitution after the document was originally approved. Amendments are changes or additions to the Constitution. We have already identified some of the rights you know that the Constitution guarantees. This TedEd video will review all ten amendments in the Bill of Rights.
Using the resources posted on Classroom to help you, you will select one of the following projects to learn about the amendments and show your knowledge of the Bill of Rights. You are only selecting ONE of the following assignments.
Close: The Bill of Rights were not originally included in the Constitution. After watching the TedEd video below, we will discuss the following questions:
Why were the Bill of Rights added to the Constitution?
What is a Federalist and what is an anti-Federalist?
How is the Bill of Rights another example of compromise in the Constitution?
Homework: For homework, play the Bill of Rights version of the iCivics game, "Do I Have a Right?" in which you pretend to be a lawyer trying different court cases related to the amendments in the Bill of Rights.
