Tool #1: Quizizz
To view this assessment tool, you can either click this link or go to joinmyquiz.com and enter the code: 1113 4578. This assessment tool will only be available until May 1st, as it is set up like a homework assignment to ensure that the link is live.
Tool #2: PollEverywhere
In addition to using the poll embeded below, I have also included a response link here.
I use a lot of these assessment tools in my classroom so I found them easy to use. I did find that I had to be careful when selecting an assessment tool because it needed to be able to be shared for an extended period of time. I used assessment tools that would allow me to create a homework assignment for students so that I could post a link and join code that would last for an extended period of time. With Quizizz, I had significantly more flexibility than the other assessment tools. I liked that I could do multiple choice, fill in the blanks, polls, checks, and even open ended questions, and most of them would be graded for me. When I was deciding on the second tool to use, I actually couldn't use Kahoot because my questions were over the character limit. I ended up selecting PollEverywhere, which I have used in my classroom before. I didn't realize how question formats they had and they were unique to this platform, including being to create a word cloud, add a clickable image, or a ranking. I used the multiple choice feature, which also allowed for multiple answer options so I didn't have to reformat the check box question that I had used in the Quizizz, and I used the Q & A feature to do the open ended questions. I didn't know that PollEverywhere had a survey feature that allows you to activate multiple questions at a time, which is how I created the assessment, that way viewers could move through the PollEverywhere at their own pace, since usually the instructor needs to activate each individual question. Moving forward, I will continue to use Quizizz and will utilize more of the question types that they offer. I will consider using PollEverywhere in a more unique way in the future. I used to use it a lot more before I knew about Nearpod and Pear Deck, because it allowed me to make my presentations interactive, but I can see that the platform is more than basic polling.
