When we look at the ideas of the Constitution, it's best to start at the beginning of the document. The preamble to the United States Constitution explains the purpose of the document and incorporates the values that the Founding Fathers had in mind for the government. On the Jamboard posted in the Google Meet, analyze the preamble of the Constitution and identify the purpose of the Government according to the text.
Looking beyond the preamble, there are six key values that are carried throughout the Constitution. Read about these key principles in the iCivics reading linked below. After you finish your reading, you will be divided into groups of six in our Google Meet breakout rooms. Each person in the breakout room will be assigned a different principle of the Constitution. Select one of the mini projects explained in the Google Doc below to represent your assigned principle. After you complete your project, each member of the group will share their project, while working to create a group mind map that shows how all of the principles of the Constitution are connected to one another.
