Google Slides:
In this assignment, students used Google Slides to create their own colonies. The assignment was split until three sections so that each partner had an assigned portion of the project, just in case a partner did not collaborate with the rest of the group. This allowed students to be graded individually while still being able to discuss the goals and ideas of their colony.
Supplemented with Google Meet:
Because this assignment was completed virtually, students needed an easy way to communicate with their partners. Using the Breakout Rooms feature on Google Meet, groups were able to work privately and collaborate together on the assignment. Students were able to talk directly with each other or use the chat feature to discuss their work.
In this Nearpod lesson, students answer a variety of questions types after watching a video on the Atlantic Slave Trade and viewing a map of the Triangular Trade Route. Student responses can be shared out with the rest of the class for more discussion and as a review of ket concepts. The collaborate board also allows students to share their thoughts with the entire class based off the topic of the board; in the case, the board discusses the impact of the Triangular Trade Route on the different countries and people involved in it.
This PDF shows the activities and questions posed to students throughout the lesson. It is not interactive but the slides are launched from the Nearpod site which is interactive. The teacher also has the option to set the Nearpod to instructor-paced or student-paced.
