The first individual for the county of this southern Siberian breeder occurred at Monks' House, Seahouses on 13th October 1951. Of the 140 individuals there have been three spring records: 12-20 April 2008 at Swallow Pond, Wallsend, 2-3 May 2017 on Brownsman, Farne Islands and 11 May 2000 at Hauxley.
Apart from one on the Farnes on 19 September 1996, the next earliest autumn appearance is of one trapped on 3 October 1974 on Coquet Island. The latest arrival is of one on 26 November 1995 near Druridge Pools that stayed for another day.
October is the main arrival month with 97 individuals, with a further 27 arriving in November.
