It was thought to have bred in the 1830s and 40s at Newham Lough and Prestwick Carr. I have a further eleven records from the 19th century, five of them in the 1880s and 4 in the 1890s. Three more records occurred between 1902-13, with another three in the period 1947-49. See graphs for occurrences during 1950-2019.
