The first occurrence was of one shot at Walbottle in October 1831. About nineteen occurred during a large invasion during 1875-77 autumn/winter seasons. Four occurred in the winters of 1898-99 and also in 1903.
In modern times six occurred during the winters of 1974-75 and 1997-98, and, an invasion occurred during the winter of 1994-95 when fifteen were recorded.
Since the ending of the graphs in 2019 further individuals have occurred: singles in both 2020 and 2021 with two during the autumn/winter of 2022. A further individual in 2023 during March which had probably overwintered.
