Elementary School

As with most with most kids, school is an important part of their young lives. This was no exception for Quinn. The following photos are from a scrapbook of Quinn's elementary school years- sorry, some of the photos are fuzzy.

See Elementary School photo album. You can also search or browse through the 'Quinn' photo album for more elementary school photos.

A couple of pictures of Quinn's first day at school.

Grade 5

When it comes to elementary school, one of Quinn's better and more enjoyable years was Mr. Gulutzan's Grade 5 class. There was a few things that made this year particularly great. Quinn always liked being read to as a toddler, and liked reading in his school years, even as a teenager. Mr. Gulutzan particularly brought out Quinn's interest in reading. Grade 5 also was fun because Mr. Gulutzan was a 'sports guy', which meant there was a lot of chatter about hockey and other sport...school is always more interesting when you can connect with your teacher. In high school, Quinn enjoyed drama and hamming it up in front of cameras for school projects. In Quinn's later years of high school, it became obvious he was very comfortable talking in front of people. I think this is why sportscasting was such a natural fit for him. I do think though, part of Quinn's interest in drama, literature, public speaking, and ultimately his desire to become a sportscaster was in large part due to Mr. Gulutzan. Mr. Gulutzan's Grade 5 class always did a Shakespeare play. For Quinn's Grade 5 year, they did William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet. The kids (and Quinn) found this exciting because Mr. Gulutzan found a way to make it fun. Quinn played the part of Will (William Shakespeare), the central narrator. The video below is compilation of excerpts where Quinn is narrating, along with some random chunks of the play to give perspective. The program for the play can be viewed at this link.
