The Shadow Templar is a large, dark magic wielding organisation of mixed alignment who work as archivists, containing as much information, documents and articles as they can collect from numerous different timelines in their huge repository. Additionally, they feature a religious branch which focuses on using these knowledge for ritualistic summoning, but this does not shape their entire organisation.
Hidden away within the darkness of the night and the wide, seemingly infinite catacombs of the cities of Quiazal, is the Shadow Templar, a large guild following the use of darker magics, from simple shadow magic to the most advanced confusion spells. Contrary to popular belief, this guild is not a destructive force, 'nor do they support destructive forces, they simply enjoy the use of darker magic and world history.
The guild is also well known for its 'dark tempesto' trade, the trade of dark magic items, potions, armours and shields, companions, manuscripts and books, and more. This dark trade causes some people to be intimidated by them and their presence within the market, traders within the Shadow Templar always ensure their wares don't get into the wrong hands, and should something dangerous be traded off unnecessarily, the officials have means of respectfully and ethically returning it to them.
Additionally, the Shadow Templar functions as a huge repository for information, collecting different pieces of scripture and painting from all manner of ancient and modern times to ensure it's collected and safe as to not lose those important pieces of history. Collection of artefacts is also common among those within the organisation.
Members of the Shadow Templar typically enjoy archiving the darkness of the world around them. Every member receives a Visar, a device which connects to their arm and can be used for environmental or informational archiving as well as enhancing dark magics. This device can be ranked up following ranks within the guild, or by purchasing upgraded tech from the guilds resident Visar dealer, Vatani.
Some members of the guild will sell off their information for a quick bit of cash, while others will keep it for their own self improvement. What a Shadow Templar member does with the information and items they earn during their time within the guild is entirely up to them, and Guild officials will never request information or bounty to be turned into them.
The Shadow Templar isn't the most religious of the different religious affiliates open for people to join, but there is a single separate movement within the organisation which has heavy involvement with ritualistic summonings, not only of deities but unusual phenomenon and legendary animals, or cryptids. These ritualistic summonings take place on a seasonal basis, typically for involvement within Arena Tharax - an arena open once a season, where members of the Shadow Templar can display their shadow magics or fight with them to a much larger crowd.
This same arena is used for initiation with less trusted newcomers, people with questionable backgrounds or people who have yet to use the dark arts.
The organisation is controlled by a small council of individuals referred to as the Nine Tailed Fox. There are normally four, but one position is currently open.
