Flowers

Quiazal's many different flowering plants and their uses. The vast majority are used in magical items or potion brewery.

Emberpetal

Geographical Origin: Undead Swamps (Summer), all Arson biomes
Component in: Fire based potions

The Emberpetal is an extremely hot form of orchid most commonly found during the summer seasons of the Undead Swamps. During their stages of growth, these flowers change vastly through their own individual climates, typically growing as a freezing cold bud throughout the winter and blooming as a burning hot flower during the summer months.

These flowers are well known to set fire to anything flammable they come into contact with. Thankfully, the Undead Swamps is always too damp to be burned by these flowers, even during the summer, though it could mean disaster for animals which touch them.

Their microsporangia form a liquid pollen extract referred to in the potion brewery world as Sundrops. This liquid pollen resembles honey in appearance and hot sauce in taste, though should never be drank raw. It's a key component in the brewing of flame resistant or enhancement potions.

Wolfsbane

Geographical Origin: Abundant everywhere
Component in: Wild werewolf repellents, Werehag bait

The wolfsbane is an unusual species of black Dhalia flower, one which resembles a black sun with a bright yellow core. These flowers are carnivorous, but disguise themselves as a flower ripe for pollination. Their yellow core is filled with an acidic substance which creates the scent of rotting meat, one which can't be detected by most insects. This allows them to attract both pollinating animals and flies, all of which they drown in the acid before consuming them passively.

The acidic extract from these flowers is extremely useful in the creation of wild werewolf repellent, or werehag bait. The rotting scent keeps wild werewolves at bay, the animals having a strong distaste for the scent, but be weary. It can unintentionally bring forward werehags, zombified versions of these wild werewolves who would much prefer a rotting meal.

They are unusually climate resistant and can be found everywhere in the world, even at the top of icespire peak. There are some places with a much lower abundance of insects however, which has developed subspecies of these flowers which feast on whatever they can find.

Nasturtium

Geographical Origin: All Mystic biomes
Component in: Curse and Enchantment antidotes, calming remedies

Nasturtium is an unusual species of bell flower based in all mythic biomes, especially in pscyhedelic districts. These flowers produce unusual tastes and scents based on what the consumer enjoys. Someone who likes the taste of caramel may taste caramel, while someone who wants a roast dinner will smell a roast dinner from the flower.

These unusual properties make it most useful in calming remedies. By creating a familiar taste or scent, these brews calm even the most distraught of minds by placing the brain in a safe, familiar place. Additionally, Nasturtium's liquid extracts are key components in curse and enchantment antidotes, all of which can be consumed either by potion or by directly eating the flower petals.

Most enchantments can be cured quickly by the consumption of Nasturtium, though it may have trouble with much more advanced conjures. The average time it takes to clear an enchant or curse of effects on the body is 2 hours (5 turns).

Oraga's Orchid

Geographical Origin: Undead Swamps
Properties: Provides healing to injured individuals in range, Snapdragon habitat

Although designated as being an orchid, the Oraga's Orchid is actually a species of land based water lily which lives along the borders or the many mana streams flowing through the Undead Swamps. These lilies act as the homes for the many species of tiny snapdragons which roam the undead swamps, as well as a healing salve for people who find themselves injured in their presence.

Typically closed, the Oraga's Orchid will only open if it's either opened by Snapdragons, or if it detects an injured individual, to protect its magical healing extracts. When healing, the petals will gain a yellow glow and the energy will leech from them to the injured individual, promptly healing them (+3 HOT for as long as they're nearby.)

They have a fairly large range of about 5 meters before they can no longer detect you and close up again, as well as growing in huge collections of up to 500 flowers. They're the largest species of water lily in the Undead Swamps, standing up to 2 meters high when closed.

Nocturna Draylla

Geographical Origin: Deadzones, Unstable/Corrupted biomes.
Properties: Corrupted, Decaying, Poisonous, Venomous

A most unusual species of water lily, the Nocturna Draylla is highly abundant only in corrupted and unstable biomes, typically within regions of Drippy corruption. This water lily grows on the blackened waters of the corrupted biomes, and although beautiful to look at, is not a force to reckon with.

The Nocturna Draylla is, obviously, a corrupted species of flower. As such, corruption can spread from these flowers to you should you came into naked contact with the petals. Additionally, the flowers have decaying properties which will cause you to experience a sensation similar to being irradiated if you stay near them for too long.

Their bright colours are a signal to everything in the surrounding region, in stark contrast to the typical blacks and greys, that they are dangerous. Consuming these flowers may result in death, and their liquid extracts can be used in some of the most potent venoms and poisons the world has ever known.

Ash Lily

Geographical Origins: Arson biomes, Undead Swamps (Summer)
Component in: Ash lily resin

Ash lilies are small, black lily flowers which grow in clumps of around 10 individuals. These flowers grow in hot climates and are renowned not only for the ashy texture of their petals, but for the healing properties their liquid pollen provides in the healing brew 'Ash Lily resin.'

Additionally, their pollen produces a most unusual type of honey referred to as 'Blood honey.' This sugary substance is crafted by common honeybees and blood wasps exclusively, and has a bright red colour to it. This viscous sugary food has proven to be a perfect cooking and sweetening component, and is considered to be one of the most delightful types of honey found in the common world.

Alongside the sweetness and biotraces of pollen found within this honey, it has been occasionally found in the past that there are biotraces of sentient beings within this honey - perhaps actual blood, but who knows? This theme isn't consistent among all types of honey from all flowers, and different honey samples from different places harbour different results.

Midas Flower

Geographical Origin: Anywhere
Component in: Midas extract

The Midas flower is an extremely rare, yet beautiful, white and gold flower which as its name suggests has the effects of the ancient Midas. This flower will turn anything it comes into contact with to gold, but it happens at an extremely slow rate.

If you plan on growing a Midas flower, you must take its surroundings into account. Grow it only with other Midas flowers to prevent gold contamination, and keep it in a thick container which the gold can't breach out of. These flowers do not require any form of water, only sustenance from the sun.

They are incapable of taking in water due to the gold in their roots, and the fact that they convert any soil they're growing in to gold. They can also grow on vines, and can often be found naturally growing in large palaces.
