Sentinels are unusual beings which are often the personified version of an object, substance or magic type. The task of a sentinel is to defend whatever it's based off of with its life, be it magic, item, location, climate or anything else. The only sentinels cannot resemble are food - as they'd then be considered a foodie spirit rather than a sentinel.

They often have extremely powerful magic based on the type of magic or item they are, but will often only use that type of magic. It isn't often that a sentinel branches out and uses many different types of magic.

Similarly to archangels, there's so many different sentinels that they can often afford to rest, relax and take part in more common activities, like travelling around the mortal world or simply exploring their realms and interacting with other sentinels, and anyone else they come across.

Unlike other angels, Sentinels are not exclusively locked in a good alignment on birth. Chaotic and Neutral sentinels are also common appearances.
