The Orcarus are likely the most brutish of the Ambivalent species of Quiazal, the largest, the scariest and the ones with possibly the dirtiest of lifestyles. The Orcarus species family contains species from trolls and orcs, to the most dastardly stupid individuals of the ogres.
At heart, all Orcarus beings are individuals who thrive off of warfare and natural exploration. Orcs are the main species of warfare, seen as being the largest and most intimidating of the species, though while they enjoy a good brawl they're actually the most friendly of the three Orcarus species.
Trolls are often seen as the 'energetic jumpers' of the species, bounding around and seeking all kinds of surfaces and crevices they can climb and get themselves stuck in. They're also known for being extremely adept in the art of medicines and herbology, some even being extremely talented in the arts of shamanism and witchcraft.
Ogres are the most dangerous of the species trio. They are the most stupid of all individuals, and only think of the most basic natural functions: Sleeping, eating, breeding and being especially territorial to their own home regions. Many of them are incapable of common speech, though it's as possible for them as it is anyone else to learn the basic ways of life.
Ogres are about what one would expect from such a name, big hulking monstrosities that aren't too big in the intelligence department, or anything to do with the use of their brain besides shouting threats and deciding upon what part of a body looks tasty for them. What they lack in this department is vastly outweighed by their sheer strength and constitution, making time very difficult to take down by normal physical means and very likely to offer a great physical challenge.
This doesn't mean however they are invincible in combat, the average Ogre is rather susceptible to magic including charms to sway and confuse their weak minds. Still caution should always be taken when even so much as talking to one of these, for who knows when they could decide to make you their next meal.
Standing on average 9ft tall, and weighing up to 300lbs, the last thing you want to do is end up under the foot of one of these creatures. They typically reside around the wildernesses of Neverwinter, Oya and Traiford, but can be found roaming anywhere and everywhere, leaving a trail of drool behind them.
From the jungles and forests of Neverwinter to the undead swamps of Oya, Trolls are the bloodhounds of Quiazal's brute species. Having a heightened sense of smell and vision, not much can get past these cunning, yet stupid, beasts. While being much smarter than Ogres, physically they don’t differ much, having paled and coloured skin typically shades of blue, green and yellow, and clawed hands of only three fingers.
Their superiority to Ogres also allowed them the ability to use basic forms of magic, most commonly in the Naturae class. They excel in brewing healing potions and using their magic to create physically damaging plants, from spiked vines to entire trees. Despite this ability, they’re quickly turned down by the fire magic users - without much practise they can’t successfully create plants with fire resistance.
Usually standing up to 7ft tall and weighing 250-300lbs, they’re surprisingly agile, excelling in dodging physical attacks and getting into cramped spaces you wouldn’t expect them to - but they usually don’t think of ways back out of these places and often have to be yanked out by someone else.
Trolls are most renowned for their large, pointed ears and huge tusks of varying sizes sticking out from their bottom or top jaws. Trolls are one of the few humanoid species in Quiazal which exhibit extreme sexual dimorphism, and the appearance of their tusks and body change dramatically depending on their sex.
Males tend to grow much larger tusks and ears than the females, as well as typically longer hair, much more resembling manes rather than actual hair. On the contrary, the females tend to have fur lining their arms or shoulders, or sometimes around their neck. The females also have much smaller, but still pointed ears, and hair which grows much more like normal hair.
The skin of trolls is most commonly within the blue and green colour scheme, but can be any colour from the entire spectrum. It's exceptionally rare to find a troll with a darker version of its colour, unless the colours are reds or purples.
Most Trolls cover themselves in varying patterns and shades of body paint, considered to be a high status among their communities. Different symbols represent different meanings within a tribe, with the most universally known and used for representation being the skull face, which represents shamanism and the practises of witch doctoring.
Additionally, most if not all trolls wear animal furs and bird feathers as a symbol of grace. Sometimes, they'll also collect trophies from their kills; skulls, teeth, claws, horns etc. and wear them on their being as a sign of power.
Orcs are at heart beings that thrive off the art of warfare, the majority of which seeking their fortune as mercenaries, soldiers and adventurers though there are indeed exceptions to the rule. For the most part and due to public perception, Orcs are seen as a more aggressive species that use intimidation and violence to get what they want, their natural affinity and nature of physical combat and warfare doing little to change this notion.
Despite this they have their fair share of weaknesses, particularly that of the arcane arts against them alongside struggles to properly learn and master their own, still if you intend on living through the more dangerous and inhospitable adventures, you can't go too wrong with an Orc beside you.
Originating in Neverwinter, most orcs stand between 6-8ft and weigh an average 200-250lbs.
Orcs and Trolls are extremely similar, especially in their appearance, sexual dimorphism and social ordeals, however they also have a lot of features which define them as separate. Both the males and females can grow significantly sized tusks and both use them for numerous different means. Additionally, they have no significant bodily differences other than the natural differing structure of their sexes.
Usually, it's the females of this species which have the larger ears, but this is extremely variable on genetics and parental heritage. It's not uncommon for the males to have large, bat like ears too, sometimes even significantly larger than the females.
Their skin is much different from the skin of Trolls, being much tougher and almost chitinous with a constant colour of varying shades of green and dark blues. Orcs being different colours like Trolls is entirely unprecedented and believed to be impossible without the use of body paints.
Orcs live with a much more modern nature than Trolls do, and while they do still have their tribal ordeals present in their society through the form of body painting and wearing their kills as trophies, they are much more capable in a modern and technologically advanced society. They don't form separate tribes or pacts very often, and tend to live in the hearts of the main cities of the world rather than out in the wilds. This doesn't stop select groups of individuals doing so, however.
Onis are a species of demonic troll originating from the mortal world, following practises of spirituality and haunting. Much like Trolls and Ogres, Oni are susceptible to rather juvenile mentality in certain situations, however they share intelligence levels with Basic Tenters and are much more advanced than them.
Usually, Oni won’t be a problem and won’t pose a threat to anyone they come by unlike most demons. They tend to not take part in actions of mischief and instead prefer to talk to spirits, find genies for wishes or complete rituals. While they have access to the Everdark, they prefer not to go there to avoid the ruckus of demons brawling.
They’ll most often be found wandering around the blossom district in Kokubu, preferring to sit around in the paths of the blossoms and by the water fountains than around Neverwinter or Oya with the dragons and scorchers.
Being a technically undead species of Orcarus, the Oni are the most unusual and outcast when compared to their organic counterparts. Many individuals fear them for the soul fact that they're considered demons, but in no way are they considered to be truly malevolent like their organically demonic brethren, and prefer a life of peace and tranquility where they can work on their spiritiualism without bother.
Unlike other Orcarus, the tusks of the Oni typically grow outwards and to the sides, most commonly from both the top and bottom of the jaws, creating an almost lock like mechanism. Additionally, they grow large horns, entirely unique to the genus.
Oni usually resemble a large mix of numerous creatures in a humanoid nature, alongside their long ears, large tusks and human figure which classifies them as a troll. Typically, they resemble a mix between a person, bull and a large cat, especially in the facial and leg areas. Although not all of them do, many of them exhibit a long tail, sometimes completely hairless, sometimes covered with downy fuzz and sometimes a mixture of the two, with a furry tip.
Their colour schemes are the most unusual of the Orcarus genus, with it being exceptionally rare for them to naturally feature colours of yellow, green or brown. The vast majority are coloured with whites, blacks, reds, blues and purples, with the occasional dashing of pink splashed in, all of these colours mingling in a variety of patterns on their furry or scaly bodies.
Where fur isn't present, such as around their bellies, chests and faces, their skin is usually smooth or chitinous.
