Goblins

Dark and elusive, These creatures excel in the art of stealing and causing mischief, often roaming around pick-pocketing from civilians or sneaking around behind the counters of stores and between shelves stealing as much as their pockets can carry. Their small size makes them especially effective at the art of escaping, being fast runners and both quadrupedal and bipedal.

They don’t have a preferred location to linger, instead going wherever their feet take them and stealing anything that catches their eyes, especially things with a twinkle. More often than not, they won’t even put their stolen goods away, and will regularly have stolen trinkets, potions and small weapons stored away on their person.

Transience is common among these small, green critters, preferring to persistently wander in hunt of a new target or other goblins rather than permanently settle down.

Archivist

Archivists are an unusual subspecies of Goblins which identically resembles even the most common of stereotypical looks for a Goblin: Green skin, large ears and yellow eyes. The world tends to not interest these unusual creatures, but instead the collection of information about said world. Most of them are just in it for the money, collecting data and then selling it off for hundreds, sometimes thousands of gold.

They aren't as rude or secretive as one would expect a Goblin to be, instead being experts in the art of trading and marketing. This makes them perfect employees for many of the world's numerous marketing and shopping districts, as well as the number one most hired species to work within main city banks and library collectives for their information and sorting knowledge.

Despite their lack of rudeness or secrecy, Archivists aren't Goblins to be trusted, and are renowned by many species are tricksters who don't care about the wellbeing of other individuals, but instead are self serving and work only for their own gain in the end.

Archivists have no significant physical differenced to other goblins which sets them apart as a different species, but instead are entirely genetically different. The way they think, act and even talk completely opposes the norm for other goblins, and as such it makes them a highly shunned and despised sub species by the greater population.

That being said, it's incredibly common for an archivist to feign being another type of Goblin for the purpose of business, and sometimes their own wellbeing, as to not tarnish their personal reputation. Additionally, lots of places refuse to hire Archivists simply for being ''different.''

Like all other goblins, Archivist goblins are completely carnivorous. They feature sharp sets of completely canid teeth and prefer to eat their meat raw rather than cooked, though unusually will eat it with manners which shine miles above the manners of all other goblins, with napkins and cutlery, and even dare to wash their hands beforehand.

Peat Tarrin

Originating from the hearts of the world's most ancient swamplands, bogs and marshlands, the Peat Tarrin is a fittingly named species of wild muck Goblin, a type of Goblin which evolved through being born to the elements, giving them a distinct appearance which no other goblin shares with them. The lifestyles of these unusual Goblins vary depending on their upbringing and where they chose to live, and of course, a swampy lifestyle is a scarcity in Quiazal's now modern society.

Peat Tarrin are well known for being brutal when in groups, having a distinct love for causing mischief or destruction which drives the majority of them to the heart of Neverwinter. It's rare for a Tarrin to be a lone wolf, and even if they don't have a gang or pact they'll still remain grouped with their large families until the time comes for them to move out and find a new collective of individuals to partner with. Each individual within these groups serves a purpose, and while not all of them will act on the frontline with explosive chaos, they're all viewed as being equally as important to each other.

While they may not be isolated as individuals, as a species they are especially on their own. Their ancestry of being swampland and marsh survivors brings a large hostility out from them when faced with another species of goblin, and most despise other goblins not of the same species. This used to be true for all Peat Tarrins, but many of them are having to get used to the company of their neighbouring brethren.

Many Peat Tarrin display physical qualities which are deemed to be useless or ugly in a modern or city filled environment. Their skin is always shades of brown or swampy greens, with occasional ashy or ugly blue patches dotted around their skin. In recent times, some Peat Tarrin have further evolved to have more grey coloured skin, allowing them to blend in more with their new modern environment.

Additionally, their eyes are a bright orange, and many have claimed this to make them look like different species of swamp and rainforest dwelling frogs and toads whenever they sit, likely for camouflage as it provides them no other biological benefit.

Their teeth are much larger and sharper than other species of Goblin, most renowned for them being unusual colours, the most common being bright yellow. Peat Tarrin have had teeth in all sorts of colours: Blues, reds, purples, greens, and can also grow excessively long teeth which much resemble tusks from either their top, bottom or both jaws, in place of where their canines would be.

The ears of a Peat Tarrin are completely different to the rest of their body. While their skin is usually either smooth or rough to the greatest extremes, with it being exceptionally rare to get any level in between, the skin of their ears is leathery and floppy, making their ears seem almost like those of bats or sometimes even elephants. One would think this would prove them a hearing advantage, but it doesn't, with them only being that huge to allow them to cool down as Peat Tarrin cannot sweat like most goblins.

Arcane

Arcane are the master magic wielders of the Goblin world, usually being associated in history with great feats of witchcraft and shamanism. Many of them are unusual colours, with the most common being red in colour, but usually their skin tone resembles the colour of the magic they use.

They are widely accepted among the Goblin community as the most trustworthy and experienced of their kind, being considered to be extremely wise, especially for their extended lifespans and wide magical knowledge which most Goblins lack.

The vast majority of them spend most if not all of their lives alone and away from their own species, only interacting with them should they need some form of magical assistance or wish to trade. This doesn't mean they don't openly interact with other species however, and will often leave their wilderness situated huts to seek out better wares for their region of work.

Many Arcane goblins live in small huts in swamps and forests, away from modern society, and live a life almost entirely unaffected by Magitek and Onotek.

Arcane goblins often decorate themselves with varying ancient relics and jewellery, seeming to be most often extracted from ancient deserts despite their swampland and forest homelands. The ancient treasures held within the deserts are believed to be connected with ancient, long lost religions and ancient patheons forgotten by time, and the Arcanes believe this to be tranferred through these jewels, providing them more magical energy.

Additionally, some Arcane goblins may paint their bodies various colours and patterns resembling the ancient architectural paintings found within religious ruins, or used within the symbols of the many religious organisations.

The skin of Arcane goblins can sometimes act much like the skin of a cuttlefish when in the presence of arcane or magical energy. The colour and pattern may change depending on how it reacts to the energy source, and what the energy source is, and with this knowledge many of these goblins can use themselves' and other magical sources to keep themselves camouflaged and safe from their surroundings.

The flat colour of their skin will always resemble the kind of magic they use, for example a water magic Arcane goblin may have blues and green tones as their colour of their skin, while a fire magic Arcane goblin will have oranges, yellows or reds. Of course magic can be much more complex than the common elements, which can lead to much more complex skin tones and even patterns.

Much like cuttlefish skin, the patterns on the Arcane Goblin's skin will move depending on the energy source and its surroundings.
