Elemental Ghouls are born from the death of an elemental sorcerer, a sorcerer who uses elemental magic. They take on the form of the main element the sorcerer used and remain in that form for eternity, using that one element.
The element an Elemental Ghoul becomes typically originates from their personality, for example, a fire Elemental Ghoul will have been born from a sorcerer who lived a grouchy, angered life, while a nature Elemental Ghoul will have been born from a much more tranquil, peaceful sorcerer. This personality crosses through from sorcerer to ghoul.
While the Elemental Ghoul has access to learning other types of magic, it may injure itself using a magic type which opposes its element, or trying too hard to deny its own elemental power.
Most are tall, between 7 and 8ft, but are typically weightless and can choose between floating or walking along. Removing any part of them, such as cutting their hair, can cause them emotional or physical pain.
Selkies are the water elementals of the elemental ghoul race, unusual siren-like creatures which spend most if not all of their time sitting within any pool of water they can find. Made entirely out of water, these creatures can completely manipulate their bodies to be the form of either their humanoid self, or a moveable, warp-able puddle of water. Their hair is the most noticeably watery part of their body, seeming to be flowing from the roots at the head all the way down its length, until it flicks up and splashes off like the end of a waterfall.
When travelling, they move around under the water similarly to a squid, except they don't use any form of tentacles or tendrils to move themselves along, rather they just flex their bodies back and forth with their hair pushing behind them making them look like a squid of some kind. Additionally, their bodies are bioluminescent and constantly leaks glowing particles into the water behind them, creating an almost ethereal, glittery look.
Being one of the most peaceful species of elemental ghoul, these creatures tend to keep away from conflict and usually have an extreme distaste against anyone who actively seeks it out. This has, ironically, created a huge conflict between themselves and the many much more brutish species of the world, including the Orcarus, Scorchers and even other Elemental ghouls, such as the Marar.
Composed entirely of fire and magma, these volatile Elemental Ghouls are the epitome of undead violence and anger. With rage fuelled from an angry lifetime negatively impacting their emotional state in the afterlife, it's exceptionally rare for one of these creatures to be at peace, even if it's for a few moments, normally brimming with chaotic energy and paranoia. It's this volatility which makes them one of the most feared ghouls in the world.
These creatures have an exceptionally high amount of similarities to the much more versatile and dangerous Scorchers of Neverwinter. Steam rises from their bodies and out of their noses and mouths at a consistent rate and heat constantly radiates from them at extreme temperatures which can make even the most heat resistant of individuals feel sweltered and light headed.
Much like Selkies, Marar's have a consistent flow of magma pouring from the roots of their heads. Unlike Selkies though, it doesn't flick off at a certain point but instead flows consistently. It's especially dragging on the females, who have to constantly drag heavy magma around behind them. This magma often hardens into trails of solid rock, but can easily be cleaned up as it has no heat or burning properties unlike the rest of their ashy bodies.
The children of nature, these spirits are not unlike Druids under the magical definition, but with a few physical differences. Many druids share extreme resemblance to Fauns, especially in their physical appearance, with large deer ears and legs with huge horns growing from their foreheads. They key differences between Druids and Fauns is that the Druids are much more humanoid than Fauns, lacking fur in most places and having totally human faces.
Many Druids are enclosed species, keeping to themselves and often never writing any information relevant to them. All of them create their own unique, nature based spells, but never write down the recipes to conjure such things out of fear of having them stolen by others. The magic of a Druid is almost as important to them as nature itself is.
Many of them work hard in conservation efforts of the natural world, always trying to make sure that no harm comes to their surrounding environments, and restoring whatever they can whenever they come across it. Most Druids are especially well known for owning farms or extremely large amounts of companions, and are most often found in the Sanas Brooders and Dragon Keepers organisations.
An unusual sub-class of Elemental Ghoul, Materium ghouls are instead composed of any natural substance rather than a literal element, things like Miasma and Cryowater rather than Fire, Water and Nature. This gives them unusual physical appearances and bright colours all of which can be compared to neon paint almost, though sometimes they will more closely resemble the substance they're composed of rather than neon colouration.
Their emotional stability and personality is usually based off of the intensity of the substance they're composed of. For example, Miasma Materiums may be extremely intense and always fired up, while Cryowater Materiums are extremely slow, quiet and enclosed with themselves.
All of them have the exact same magical composition as any other elemental ghoul: Magical spectres, elemental spectres and their spirit bodies. They also enjoy to stay in regions that their natural substance can be found in abundance, though they don't have to stay there and some conform to transience.
The strangest of all the Elemental Ghouls, Cosmicam ghouls are as their name suggests: Cosmic ghouls. Usually based off of different star clusters, zodiacs and generally just different types of stars. Being masters of cosmic magic and natural star forgers, these creatures are experts in astronomy and learn the knowledge of the universe's cosmos much faster than even the most professional of human astrologists.
Their colours and shapes vary greatly depending on which constellation, zodiac or star type they are, but the most common is dark, cool shades of blue and grey, with glowing freckles all over their skin resembling common stars. Their eyes are empty, and filled with reflective glowing orbs which bounce around like a screensaver, as is certain sections of their skin which they either cut out themselves or are naturally born with.
Their blood is an extremely potent form of starfire which lacks all colour but vantablack, and reflects absolutely no light. This makes any wounds which form on their bodies look almost like the centres of black holes, or the empty space of the many void dimensions.
