Angels

Typically originating in Aeden, Benevolent beings such as angels are the holy spirits of Quiazal, ranging from regular angels to the highest order of Seraphs. These species are defenders of both the holy realms and the mortal world alike, Many of them are enhanced in mostly light styled magics, preferring to keep away from the sinful side of magics, however darker benevolent species such as Meddlers may prefer the practise of darker magics.

Many benevolent beings were either born or created in one of the holy realms, the main one being Aeden, and can have either a past life memory like angels or merely be born into the world as they are on their first life.

Characters who die have the option to become a Benevolent being as their afterlife species.

Common Angel

Originating in Aeden, angels were the first of the holy species group of Ambivalence, feathery winged Guardians of Aeden designated to watch over the spirits of the gardens and guide their essences. Users of light magic, Angels are especially advanced in the expulsion of dark forces, from dark magic users to high class Malevolent forces.

Being the original species of multiple angel classes, Common Angels don’t have as heavy a duty as most, often freely roaming around the mortal world and acting as guards for most of the cities and kingdoms in the absence of other powerful presences. Simultaneously, they act as couriers for the gods, passing messages back and forth from Aeden, both messages from the dead to living relatives and messages from the gods to people of higher forces.

Standing usually about 5-6ft in height, and having a wingspan of up to 8 meters, Angels are the embodiment of purity and light in its most raw form, masters of bending even the rays of the sun to their disposal.

Angels were birthed into the world by the celestial Pantheon to provide for those who had passed a lawful life, and to guard those who were still completing their journey after death. Typically serving as lower ranking holy paladins, these individuals work entirely in the name of their creation deities, or Nyxious of Aeden, ensuring the protection of those travelling to their afterlife realms.

Angels are prided for the fact that they do not preach their religions to others and allow them to make their decisions, instead being open minded when protecting those through their journeys or guarding in the Overworld no matter their alignment, refusing to interfere even if the person is darker than Vantablack.

Every defining feature of an angel is extremely important to them, especially their wings. Like what so many of Quiazal's species are cursed with, if an angels wings are sliced off they do not grow back, making it the place where the vast majority will strike them down. A flightless angel is a dead one.

Every angel's wings are different, changing depending on their flight and fighting style. The shape and colours of their wings also change depending on this. The most common wings found within angels are Active and Passive soaring wings, found mostly in seabirds and birds of prey, but they can also have high-speed wings and hovering wings.

Hovering wings are found most often in young, not quite fleshed angels who have yet to learn their place in the community. If they do find their place and compete their journey, their wings may change into full, large soaring wings.

Fallen Angel

Fallen angels are believed to be the angels which garner the most sympathy, being angels which have lost their places in the afterlife realms, been misplaced or have simply become too old to hold up their work in the afterlife realms and now live the remainders of their lives in the overworld.

They typically lose their positions in the afterlife realms by being misplaced - the business of the deities who work among them often causing them to miss a person or two. If a spirit remains locked in the afterlife void - a place where souls wait to be assigned an afterlife realm - for over a month, they'll become a fallen angel and will return to the afterlife realm similar to how they were in life - except with newly brandished wings and a halo above their head, signifying that they're an angel.

Most Fallen angels don't seem to mind the fact that they've been misplaced or removed from their afterlife realms, and some even prefer life in the overworld, being able to live out their lives how they would've done before they passed on.

There are two distinctive types of Fallen Angel: Fliers and Flightless. Both are formed depending on how they fall, and how they were removed from their realms of afterlife. Fliers remain fliers if they were merely misplaced and weren't intended to be thrown to the overworld, but Flightless have their wings torn after being struck down by their deity leaving their wings ripped and broken, and incapable of providing them with flight.

Of course, Flightless fallen angels can still bring themselves back to a position of flight using the advanced technology that can be found in the Overworld, but it can be a heft and sometimes even expensive task.

Most, if not all Fallen Angels still have a strong desire to serve their deities, but they simply cannot do this anymore. Many of them may sometimes even violently seek out completing their life tasks in the name of their deities, and if they were struck down by their deity, then whatever task they were trying to accomplish in their afterlife realm.

Sometimes, this extreme desire to assist their deities and complete their life-long tasks can spiral into pure insanity within the angels, which many people sympathise with them for because at the end of the day all they want to do is be helpful.
