The steps to move QuickBooks Desktop to another computer are quite easy if users know the right set of steps required. Points to Note
• Verify that you have the QuickBooks setup files on an external storage device or the installation DVD.
• You'll need your license key and registration ready if you want to install QuickBooks on a separate computer.
• Make sure your internet connection is strong.
• For storing QuickBooks backup data, you have to always have a USB flash drive on available.
· Open QuickBooks Desktop on the old computer.
· Click on the File menu.
· Check that the USB flash drive is inserted into the old computer.
· Click the Move QuickBooks to another Computer link under the Utilities section of the File menu.
· Choose "I'm Ready" to create a password to protect the files on the USB Flash drive that belong to your firm.
· After choosing your USB Flash drive from the instructions page that displays on the screen, click on proceed.
· The time taken for the copying process will depend on the size of the files.
· Once the backup process is complete, be careful to remove QuickBooks Desktop from the previous computer by doing the following steps:
o From the start menu, access the Control Panel.
o Navigate to Programs and Features section.
o From the list, pick QuickBooks program, then hit on uninstall.
• Access the USB flash drive from My Computer.
• Search for the Move_ QuickBooks file.
• Double-click the file “migration.bat” on your USB flash drive to start the migration tool.
• The password you previously entered has to be typed again.
• Select Let's go from the menu.
• Keep an eye out for when the migration process is over.
