Please be advised that this portfolio was originally created for the purposes of fulfilling the requirements for Multimedia Services Assignment 5: Portfolio. To maintain the original marking condition and integrity of the initial assignment, I have not made any changes or additions to this section of the website aside from this course overview page. Due to this, there are one or two assignments missing in addition to several participation activities as I did not include all of them in the original portfolio. If you would like to see any of these missing pieces, please do not hesitate to contact me at W0420791@nscc.ca.
Promotional and directional materials play a huge role in any type of organization, and more specifically libraries as it is through these that they attract, draw in, and direct patrons to certain parts of the physical building or website. Multimedia Services focuses not only on this idea, but on the importance of good design in print, digital, and web form and how easily a design can attract or turn away patrons.
Understanding these concepts is vital to the design of the physical building as well as any type of media created for the library, as it gives its creator a way to control and lead the viewer. Grocery and book stores for example often use this to their advantage, laying out their building and design in a way that makes the customers follow a particular path and focus on specific things, choosing the better looking and more appealing options.
